Sunshine or cereals?!

Official: UK needs more sunshine” was the front page headline for the Independent on Sunday newspaper last Sunday (2nd August 2015). The exclusive (not sure why this was exclusive) story was covered on page two under the second headline “Sun-deprived Britons lack Vitamin D, say health experts”.

A couple of weeks ago, the Monday note covered a SACN (Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition) report into carbohydrates, which had been produced by a working group that had been looking at carbohydrates for seven years. A SACN working group on vitamin D was set up in May 2011 and The Independent article was reporting on their progress. They have produced a report, which is now subject to a nine-week consultation period ending in September. The final report from this working group will be published in 2016 and recommendations are expected to be adopted as official guidance...
