Is a 15 stone 11-year-old child abuse?

I got a call at 7am on Friday morning - number withheld. That has come to mean one thing - an obesity story has broken overnight and a radio station is making it their call-in topic for the morning show. Sure enough it was a researcher for BBC Radio London - could I join Vanessa Feltz on the show between 9am and 10am.

The story was a heartbreaking one and it raised many issues. I tried to catch the topic on as many different TV breakfast shows before 9am to see what angles were being discussed...
