The inaugural Public Health Collaboration conference

Saturday 11th June 2016 was the inaugural conference for the newly formed Public Health Collaboration (PHC). PHC has been set up by Sam Feltham, a former personal trainer who has closed down his profitable “Smash the fat” organisation to focus on running PHC as a crowd funded charity. The conference sold out a few weeks ago and there was a waiting list of over 40 people who will hopefully book earlier next year (and the venue will be larger)!

There were 12 speakers (2 double acts) and so it was a long day: starting at 9am and finishing at 6pm. The speakers and the 10 patrons of the charity had dinner the night before – a vibrant and high energy evening with much excitement, as so few of us had met previously. I was thrilled to meet Doctor in the House star, Rangan Chatterjee for the first time, as well as many thought-leading GPs, with whom I had been in email contact for some time.

The presentations should be on open view within a few weeks, so I won’t go into detail. Instead, Andy (my husband) and I chatted on the way home to come up with what we took away as the key messages from the conference...
