The difficulty of being a parent in a sugar pushing world

I remember when I was younger, the excitement I felt when I found a key ring or pen with my name on it. The idea of having one's name on something is strangely appealing. This has not escaped Coca-cola's notice, as you can now get your own personalised can of sweetened chemicals. The sugar pushers never seem to miss a trick when it comes to enticing children to become keen on/addicted to their products.

This is a personal note this week - not a story from the media. Andy and I have just returned from a weekend with my brother, Adrian, and his wife, Claire, and their 5 and 8 year old girls. In barely 36 hours we have witnessed the difficulty of being a parent in a sugar pushing world...
